Speech's (Sport Leader)

2019 is about to end and panmure bridge is qualifying new leaders for 2020. Well the day has come all the year 7's had to present there speeches. Most of us were nerves and confident at the same time, but at the end we all manage to build our confidence and speak. As i finished i felt relived that I got all that stress of me. We all did amazing and the winners of the role of leader will be announced at prize giving.
_________________________________________________________________________________
Fakalofa Lahi Atu, Kia ora and greetings to you all, my name is Matthew. 2020 will be a new year and PBS will have new leaders . Sport leader is a really big role of responsibility that I know I could fulfill. I have played club rugby for 4 years and I know how important demonstrating fair play and is something all leaders need to be able to show. To be a leader in my opinion, is to show respect towards other people, value their contributions and be yourself.

I have 500 posts on my blog which shows that I stay on task when its comes to working. I’m always confident when sharing my work with the class or even to the whole school. I can inspire, influence and motivate other people to reach their goals. I am responsible and my teacher knows that, so let me tell you why. I have been a wet day monitor and I have helped out multiple classrooms with moving things, meaning I can be trusted when it comes to being by myself.  I sometimes get up mischief but that's just me having fun, being active and getting into a bit of trouble when being myself I feel confident and comfortable when speaking. I am responsible, I am confident and I am collaborative I  have journied this long road for 7 years and I hope to have the opportunity to have the role of responsibility for 2020.

The Thanks Giving

CC BY 2.0 Photo by Jxson

The Mayflower sailed out of Plymouth Harbour in England on September 6, 1620. The small sailing ship carried 102 pilgrims across the Atlantic ocean for 65 days to Plimouth in the New World . They had religious freedom now but life was hard, as they had to build or  make everything they needed for survival from scratch. The winter made life hard and many people lost their lives, crops failed to grow and spirits were low. Some of the wampanoag tribe helped by giving advice and by bringing food. That next year the pilgrims harvest was much better. To celebrate they hunted for meat and turned many of their crops into delicious food,  and invited the wampanoag tribe to join them in a feast of thanks giving.

A shoe's life

I can't believe I have to do this again. It’s going to be a hard day. I don’t want to have to smell the odour from my owners socks, as he walks for 5 hours.  EWWWW! Gross I can taste the sweat dripping from inside his socks. Oh well, I hope I get replaced some day. I see the dairy. OOH, is that chocolate I can smell, yum.  Finally I can see home, I get to relax before another hard days of work. Oh no. I can see I pile of wet mud on the ground. NOO! I hate this so much. We get inside, I SCREAM! “go in the direction of the washing machine,”as he slowly walked. YEAH! I can now have a nice shower. I hope this doesn’t happen again? But, if it does, ill run away.

For term 4 week 6 we had an interesting start to the morning. We had to write a story about what a shoe's life might be we call this Personification. We worked in partners but there was a twist we couldn't communicate with each other at all we had to just sit back to back. Which was  very challenging, this was very fun because I really like challenges and try to find out a way to get the work done.

Terrible Tudors

For term 4 week 6 we started on reading a book named Horrible History, the topic we were reading was about The terrible Tudors. The main thing we were looking for is what is a terrible Tudor and who is a terrible Tudor, We found the information and stuck on a kahoot which is like a trivia that you can make your own one. The one thing that i liked about this activity was that we got to work in partners and also have little giggles and fun. We had to present this to our class which was very awesome because we got to play other peoples kahoot and that got to play our's.

FoodPrint

This week we were introduced to foodrint. Food-print is a company that provides different kinds of food most likely healthy food. these sales come from different kinds of company's like cafes. The owner of this company came to visit PBS and tell us about her adventure on making her own  company, food-print. The owner is Michal it took over 2 years to plan this out and 6 months  of making a name and started to sale products, which is kind of like enterprise.

Michal also talked about food being wasted. There are around 1.3 billion tonnes of food wasted every year which goes into land fill then turns into decays and produces methane gas which goes to climate change. People waste a lot of like in New Zealand we waste 20 million loafs of bread each year. This is why Michal created a website called food-print, Food-print is an app to provide food at lower prices instead of wasting oversupply when demand has decreased.

Tennis

For term 4 week 4 we had our second session for this term. We had a warm up game that exercised our legs and arms. The aim of the is to use your ears because as soon as he says ball you would have to grab the ball that is between you and your partner. After that we worked on a skill named the volley, we were given a lot of instructions about how to do this. The one thing that I like about this weeks tennis practise is that we got to hang out with my friends.

Market Game

L.I  To understand profit equals income minus expenditure. For term 4 week 4 we learnt about profit and loss. We worked in partners to play this game, it was kind of like snakes and ladders. The purpose of playing this game was about making a market if you earn profit or not. Some times there are outcomes of sale.

Firework saftey

Firework safety is a really important thing when it comes to using it. We started on our presentation to share with room 3. We shared the message to room 3 which they could possibly follow it or not but in my hopes they follow on about what we said. The one thing that I like about what we did was Presenting to room 3 because when ever I presentation I always like people to smile.

Guy Fawkes

For term 4 week 4 we started to learn about Guy Fawkes things that he did, like how he tried to kill James the first unfortunately he failed and got executed and died in 1606. We made a presentation which conflicted on what we were learning about. The thing that I liked about this activity was that I could work with a friend that had the same thinking as me.

Friday 1 November 2019

Owning a pet

For term 4 week 3 of reading, we had to work in partners which was Karlos. This activity was really fun because it was like we were purchasing areal dog and buying supply's for it. Our total cost for our puppie was 10,084 for its life time.

Wasp life Cycle

Did you know that the queen wasp stays in her nest and lays eggs? Well since I was talking about wasp I just learnt about information about wasp. In reading my group read a story about how wasp live there life. So it starts of the queen wasp hibernating, then finds a nice and warm place to stay. So she gathers up some wood she finds and mixes it with her saliva. Makes the nest lays some eggs and when they hatch they become workers or drones so they would have to find food and look after the nest for the queen wasp, sometimes the queen wasp fight to the death with another queen wasp. Did you know scientist have found around 6 queen wasp dead in a single nest.

Need and Want

For term 4 week 3's inquiry we had to compare the difference between need and want. This was very interesting because, to explain the difference we kept saying need or want in what they mean. we were not supposed to do that because you use the word that your trying to explain into your explaining. We worked into a group which got us more confident  about what we were going to say since we have more heads.

Tech (Robotics)

For term 4 week 3 of robotics we started to code our Mbots to form a figure-8 and a circle. I found this challenge hard because of the code we were going to use but luckily he gave us some help and feed back. Water Filter

In the world there are around 2.4 billion people that have to get water from a mini pond and walk back about 2 miles which is really sad because some of us have running taps well they have to drink dirty water just from a pond.

Explanation

Early Maori Enterprise

Maori Enterprise started in N.Z. Europeans came to N.Z to trade. They ripped off the Maori and stole their land. Maori  over the Europeans. Maori claimed their land and lived peacefully.

For Inquiry for week 1 term 4, our task for this was all about learning how enterprise came to New Zealand. It all started many years ago which interested me. I had a lot of fun working with my friends and just having little laugh too as we tried to turn our 5 sentence summary into 5 sentences that have exactly 10 syllables in each sentence..

At first we decided to make a Movie, but we realised that was to hard so we made a poster. We could either choose to make an advertisement about Rugby World Cup merchandise or a Hoverbike.

Pitch maths

As for maths we worked really well using our collaborative skills on achieving to getting our work done. It was a lot of work but as we negotiate our thinking to one an another we finished the task. My group was Giovanni, Karlos and I. I think that we should try and work on our word problem.

Let me tell you about my Favorited cultural celebration

Let me tell you about my Favourite cultural celebration which is matariki. I am always excited when matariki comes up which is 25 June, 2020. We celebrate this at panmure, Auckland. It is the best Because when it is the afternoon for dinner, we have a BBQ and all my family bring a chair and form a circle and look up to see all the stars. We also have to greet people in our culture which is niuean and say, "Fakaalofa atu". We usually have ribs, chicken, coleslaw and other foods. We also do cultural dance to celebrate this event and men wear flaked pants and girls wear traditional skirts and the adults do values. If we do a dance people come up on the stage and give you money which would be in your t-shirts, so in my opinion is the best because you can spend it on lollies or new equipment. They also put down lava lava's down. We can also sneak some lollies if we wanted to. matariki is the best just thinking about it just gets me hipped for next matatriki, because my family comes together and have the best time of our lives.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week we learnt a lot about commas. We learnt that commas can separate the date/year and introduce people. I really liked this activity because it got me to use a lot more commas then i use to use, and gives other people breaks rest.

Learning about the world is really fascinating that's why my task was to mark negative to odd stuff around the world. I learnt a lot of stuff well doing this like how a Chinese  company cloned a cat or how Former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe has died. I really liked this activity because I got to learn more about the world.

People could be in the play called the fourth wall.

Exploring our national current events.

News editors make decisions everyday about which current events stories they will run. we explored the different types of current events that are happening in NZ, thought about why the story's made the news and plotted the location on a google map.

Provocation and opinion

Provocation, A provocation is an action or speech that can effect people's emotions eg: They can be feelings sad or mad even happy about something. Recently a supermarket has currently ban energy drinks form there market which i think is a really good idea because kids could probably drink it and cause big side effects.

Should NZ ban Plastic Straws?

Plastic straws could be really useful for having a good drink without spilling it on you, but in my opinion we should ban them. Like think about it is effecting our sea creatures by people not being bothered to throw there rubbish in the bin which is decreasing the population of sea animals. Imagian you being a turtle and you see a plastic straw and eat it and you relies that, it was a bad dissension to eat the plastic straw, so then your air ways get blocked you can't Breath! then someone relies that you have pass.

Did you know that plastic straw take 500 years to biodegrade. From my calculations when it arrives to 2050 there would more plastic then sea creatures in our oceans if you keep on leaving your rubbish on the floor then the population of plastic will decrees the population of sea creatures until they become extinct. If this is effecting our sea life then we should stop and use reusable straws. I know plastic straws can be useful in all but it is really causing a very big disaster to our oceans. You couldn't be able to go to the beach because of all the pollution in the sea or even fish because it could be most likely for you to get a piece of rubbish instead of a fish.

Do you like fishing do you like going to the beach do you like being fascinated by sea creatures. Then Just stop just stop throwing rubbish into our oceans you would be dieng to go to the beach to surf some narly waves but you cant because you there are to much rubbish in our oceans.

So please just please don't throw plastic straws or any type of plastic away because they might be useful to build yourself a mini house of a big cat mansion or even a catapult to launch objects at you Lego. I am just saying this because I want all our oceans to be safe especially our sea creatures.

Friday 30 August 2019

Care award (Lead a school assembly)

In term 2 I lead the school assembly. I introduced the principal, and the school leaders and welcomed guests. I really liked this because it built up my confidence, something i will need if I am chosen as the next sports leader or head boy for 2020. I was proud of myself because of the good effort i gave on that day and mum so I especially deserving a treat of burger king.

Plastic Straws

There is a lot of things going around in the world but the one thing i just about the world is how plastic straws is harming our environment. In my opinion we should ban plastic straws, because look at the damage that it is causing to our sea creatures which is a big disaster.

Tech

At tech we started to finish of our design's. This was our last week of working at tech, the design that i was working on was not's and crosses. Persuasive Speeches

L.I: To write a speech that persuades others to think the way you do. I have really improved my speech writing over the past 2 years, this year was my best speech because i had a lot of persuasive sentences which could get the audience to think like i do, but i did have some mistakes which were fixing up some missing full stops and rearranging things. I got one of the best feed backs which was adding caffeine affects the central nervous system.
_________________________________________________________________________________
Hi my name is Matthew and I believe that coke is really bad for children under the age of 10 years old and I want parents and kids to realise this, So let me tell you why.

Coke has caffeine in it which children should NOT have. If they do, their brain will start playing up. In this case they will start to get headaches and anxiety because caffeine affects the central nervous system.

Did you know that one can of coke has 10 teaspoons of sugar! and if you drink 3 cans of coke a day you will be having 30 teaspoons of sugar just from your drinks? Sugar could rot your teeth and could give you diabetes which can lead to being blind, losing limbs and losing teeth.

Think about the costs you will occur to keep yourself healthy. Did you know that 65% of New Zealanders have developed bad teeth just because of coke?Think about how much this is costing for our country’s health care. If I could put in one law into place I would put in that children under the age of 10 years old can not drink coke.

If you are thinking right now oh if where not allowed to drink coke than we can drink no sugar coke. Well you can drink no sugar but it could still affect your central nervous system as it still has caffeine in it. There for people can live a healthy life.

This was a really fun task because it can show how well i worked on those kind of maths problem and making the characters were fun as well

Rhythm Interative's visit to PBS

Today after morning tea, PBS had a surprising guest named Johnny who was teaching us how to do beats and different songs with the djembe. The most important part is to make sure you have to get the right hand movement for tapping the drum. It was interesting when we had to listen carefully because some of the beats were hard. The message that the hole school heard to be a good drummer is if can say it you can play it this message inspired me to try my best and don't give up.

That tip inspired me to commit on anything to improve my movements and to try my best.

Waltzing Matilda was about swag-man who was sitting under a coolibah tree. Then came down a sheep to drink from the tucker bag. Then the squatter (owner) caught him steeling then troopers came down to see who that sheep was. The message of this poem means to me as it was a hard life in Australia.

Image result for 3D shapes square
For term 2 week 6 at tech we started with our shading and parts of games that make us think. For an example what the game is made out of or pinning the object and naming them. After that we started to do easy ways on how to make a 3D shape, so then we started to shade in different tones but in the same colours. Light on top, medium in front and dark on the side

Literary Devices

Here is the link to my DLO.
LS2 is going into poetry and things to help us is these words that we learnt Hyperbole, Simile, onomatopoeia and others. Our teacher Mrs Anderson gave us a challenge on making a DLO using google docs only. This was a very difficult challenge because i had never managed to make a DLO out of google docs, but there was a twist LS2 could only use google docs as there explainer pictures. My favorite part about this was drawing the pictures because i had more experience on google drawing.
