Gymnastics

This week is our 4th lesson and we were learning all about doing dives. The technique is to always get air time and once your hands touch the mat you would want to bend and roll forward. For a little help our coach steve made a forward roll on the stadium which we had to roll down from it.

Who am I?

For term 2 week 5 we changed around for tech which the year 7 went to Graphics. We made a me poster that had to include things that you like our watch and what you look like in an avatar.

Yuri gagarin

This week for Reading I was working with Milana, Avalon and Te poumuna we created a Animation about the story of how Yuri Gagarin was the first human to go into space. We went to the stardome last week and saw a display about Yuri Gagarin and decided to use our digital creating skills to make a animation. We first planned it out on a paper using the s chart this showed us the order on how he went into space where he was from and what he went on. Yuri Gagarin was a Soviet Cosmonaut. People called him a hero and a town was named after him. When we were making our plan we were using our skimming and scanning skills to help us know the order of the event in the story.

My favorite part was how we worked collaboratively and how fun it was. I also liked when we were drawing people or things.

Star dome

DId you know that jupiter is the biggest planet in our galaxy. At stardome LS2 learnt about interesting stuff like the constellation of stars.Which is when a bunch couple of stars make up a thing or an object. We also learnt about our galaxy milky way. When you are in space you can see our galaxy. Ls2 had a look around after the show and learnt that in china they saw a scorpion  in the sky out of starts of course, but in New Zealand we know constellation as maui's hook. We also learnt about different planets, for an example a machinery that tells you your weight and how much it feel like when your at the plante.

Information Report (Penguins)

I always think that penguins are kiwis but taller at the Auckland zoo. Penguins a very special they're not like an ordinary bird they don't fly there special birds. Did you know the tallest penguin is the emperor penguin at the height of around 4 feet (1.1m), yet Penguins can seem like they walk fast but just woddle going side to side with their flippers out.

Penguins have all sorts of colours on there back and front which is called countershading. This is a unique colour for them because it can stand out and camouflage them from their predators so they don't end up in an accident. Did you know that King Penguins have 4 layers of feather to keep them warm in the cold.

With Penguins they usually eat squid and fish, but the fascinating thing that they eat is shrimp size which is krill. Did you know when the parents lays an egg. The parents would always take turns sitting on the eeg because they both need to reduce their energy to hunt some food for there family, but penguin chicks can only go by themself to hunt when they reach their adult years.

Most people think that penguins are cold blooded because they live in the antarctic, but thats false they are actually warm blooded. Penguins live in the southern hemisphere like Antarctica, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina and others. They all don't oppose to be in the cold, they also can be found in the warm like Australia and New Zealand.

Penguins have special oil to cover their feathers with to make them waterproof. I think that antarctica is a safe place for penguins if there on high ground, Because in Antarctica they have no predators on land.
People think that penguins live in the North pole also me, but there are actually NO penguins living inbthe North Pole.

For writing this week. I learnt more about penguins. Penguins is very interesting because when i was little I thought penguins lived in the North pole, but unexpectedly penguins don't live in the North. I wrote a information report about facts and info about penguins like Habitat, Diet, appearance and others.

Gymnastics

For Gymnastics for this week for term 2 week 3 we focused on our jumping, forward/backwards, Building strength and others. The first skill we started of with in my group was practising our jumping and backward rolls. This was the most funnest activity out of all of it because we could pouce on the trampoline to land on the mat, but we weren't allowed to do flips. After that we moved to building our strength were it had handstands lifting up our body weight. This was the most hardest one to do because everything is were you have to try and do something strong or just athletic. This was the final rotation were we had to do forward rolls and go on the high beam. ON the final rotation there was a thin low beam were we could have to roll on it (Forward Rolls). This was the most Nerve Wracking one because I have only done it and a wide beam, but as I rolled I got more confident so I wanted to do it again until I perfected it. As time goes pass it was time to finish and wait until next week to learn different things.

Summarising (First Up)

L.I:To explain fewer words what the text is about. For reading, we first read a book named first up. which was about the first human being in the world to orbit the earth but sadly when he survived coming back to earth he had a passion of orbiting earth he died from a rocket that spun out of control and crashed. After that it was time to summarise the story (Short version of a text).

Kiwi Can

Integrity is someone who does something right when no one is looking which LS2 were learning about in kiwi can. At kiwi Can we did all sorts of things playing activities and learning about new things like our topic, Integrity. The thing that I found interesting was when we had to do role plays, were we all had different ways we could show positive things. We also thought about how we could show integrity with our whole class.

Tech (Wood Working)

Wood Work is a very hard thing cutting and chizziling. For woodworking we still carried on with finalizing our processes that was for me a box. making a box seems easy but you would have to all these fixing and gluing. we only have 3 session left so i have to get my box all done so i can hide my lollies.
