Making connections to problem solving.

L.I: To explore problem solving.

As our internet stopped we decided to create our own tangrams. This is a puzzle that was created centuries ago, these puzzles were usually used for people that were on a ship to have something to entertain them self's. When playing with this puzzle you can make different kind of things into an animals or a shape. We started of with a piece of A4 paper and a pair of scissors. We had to follow and listen to simple instructions to create our own tangram, when finishing of the tangrams we were given a challenge to create a square out of the pieces of paper. The thing that I liked about this task was that it was a challenge to me and we got to use problem solving to fit in the pieces of paper to create your thing.

In the photo you will see my group, the Mathematical ninjas working out the number value of our group name. to do this  we used addition strategies and our place value knowledge. In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order. To do this we used our place value knowledge.
