Activity 1: Explorers

The summer learning journey has started and everyone in Atoearoa are starting the summer learning journey.  The first activity was all about choosing things wisely. With this i worked with one of the year 4's since it is there first time doing the summer learning journey. We thought about 10 foods that doesn't use electricity. We also chose a lot of dry foods since it is a good source of protein.

  1. Fakaalofa atu Matthew,,

My name is Mani and I am going to be joining you on the Summer Learning Journey as a blog commenter. I am so excited that you are joining us for the Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020. Have you done this programme before?

This year I am so excited that I get to read over the Manaiakalani blogs, especially because I had the pleasure of visiting your school over the past few weeks and meeting you and the rest of the class! Say hello to Mrs Anderson and the class for me by the way!! I am really looking forward to summer, aren't you? In my spare time I like spending time with my family and hanging out with my friends. I also love to exercise and write songs in my spare time. What are you looking forward to doing this summer? Hopefully the weather gets better so you can jump on your trampoline in your spare time!.

Well done on completing your first activity for the Summer learning journey. I really like how you have not only included food items but you have also provided the reasons as to why you have picked them. Also I think the pictures that you have chosen are super cool, the chicken one looks tasty! I noticed that you said you worked with one of the year 4’s since it is their first time doing the Summer Learning Journey? I praise your leadership and am sure that the year 4 student appreciates your support very much. Matthew, I am super impressed with how you have attributed all of your images...bravo!

I look forward to reading more of your blog posts Matthew, happy posting! :)

    Thank you,
    Mani

  4. Hi Matthew,
I liked how you said that you'd take a lot of dried and canned food on your trip because they're both very well preserved and will last longer. If you could take even more items, what else would you want to bring?
