Should NZ ban Plastic Straws?

Plastic straws could be really useful for having a good drink without spilling it on you, but in my opinion we should ban them. Like think about it is effecting our sea creatures by people not being bothered to throw there rubbish in the bin which is decreasing the population of sea animals. Imagian you being a turtle and you see a plastic straw and eat it and you relies that, it was a bad dissension to eat the plastic straw, so then your air ways get blocked you can't Breath! then someone relies that you have pass.

Did you know that plastic straw take 500 years to biodegrade. From my calculations when it arrives to 2050 there would more plastic then sea creatures in our oceans if you keep on leaving your rubbish on the floor then the population of plastic will decrees the population of sea creatures until they become extinct. If this is effecting our sea life then we should stop and use reusable straws. I know plastic straws can be useful in all but it is really causing a very big disaster to our oceans. You couldn't be able to go to the beach because of all the pollution in the sea or even fish because it could be most likely for you to get a piece of rubbish instead of a fish.

Do you like fishing do you like going to the beach do you like being fascinated by sea creatures. Then Just stop just stop throwing rubbish into our oceans you would be dieng to go to the beach to surf some narly waves but you cant because you there are to much rubbish in our oceans.

So please just please don't throw plastic straws or any type of plastic away because they might be useful to build yourself a mini house of a big cat mansion or even a catapult to launch objects at you Lego. I am just saying this because I want all our oceans to be safe especially our sea creatures.

I really like your explanation and how you have added Exaggeration. Your explanation also gives a good point of view of why we should ban plastic straws.

  2. Kia Ora Mathew,
This speech is very informal and talks a lot about what people are doing to cause the population of plastic straws. I liked how you added in rhetorical question. This sounds more similar to and information report but your giving your point view instead. Nice work Mathew Keep it up.
